The basics

All Lessons are taught by Chris Almond, now in his 15th year + of teaching.  Chris is a member of MTNA and NVMTA.  In addition to studying piano with Carolyn Hickson at the University of Arkansas, he also performed on Oboe and English Horn with the North Arkansas and Fort Smith Symphony Orchestras and the “Ozarks Woodwind Quintet.”  Chris has performed as a Jazz Saxophonist with the University of Arkansas Jazz Band and on a variety of Medieval and Baroque period instruments in Collegium Musicum.  Chris completed his B.M. in Music Theory in 1998 under Dr. Robert Mueller.  In addition to leading Novapiano, he has in the past also served as the Director of Education for Piano Place, one of the nation’s largest piano dealers.

Chris’s piano teaching combines traditional elements, some Suzuki method influences, along with the educational benefits of modern electronic technology to create a dynamic, flexible, and fun experience for the student, parent, and teacher.  Chris is also available for studio accompanying.

Performance opportunities in the studio include 2 recitals per year as well as participation in various enrichment programs such as ABRSM(Associated Boards of the Royal Schools of Music).

Regular recordings are available of the students for no extra charge and are an additional motivator for many lessons during the year.

Classes here are very convenient to West Falls Church, Mclean, Tysons, Vienna, Arlington, Annandale, and Fairfax as we are located right off the beltway and off of rt. 66.

“My most important ideal is to be happy and excited to see my students each day.  It is a great privilege to teach piano to so many amazing people-both children and adults alike.  I am continually inspired and re-energized by each class.  It is a great joy to be able to help students grow musically, cognitively, emotionally, and creatively.”
